Laura was born in Madison and raised in the small town of Lake Mills, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin with a BA in English and Finance and a minor in Writing and French.

Laura began her career with Northwestern Mutual in 1984. Having worked both in the Home Office and in the Field, Laura has developed some significant long-standing relationships. Douglas M. MacNeil, a career agent with the Network, became Laura's mentor and associate in 1991. After a successful 40-year career, Doug is semi-retired and continues to mentor Laura on an ongoing basis.
